How it works

How Minecraft pixel art works

Minecraft pixel art uses coloured blocks as 'pixels'. The floor of a flat platform is your canvas. Each block represents one pixel — place the right coloured block in the right position, and the result viewed from above is a recognisable pixel art image.

The key challenge is colour matching. Minecraft has hundreds of block types, each with its own specific colour. The converter maps each pixel of your image to the nearest available Minecraft block colour, giving you a blueprint that uses real, obtainable blocks.

Pro Tip
Scale matters. 1 block = 1 pixel is faithful and compact. 2 blocks = 1 pixel is more visible from ground level. 3 blocks = 1 pixel is best for server builds meant to be seen from a distance.
